Long time close friend of Iron Maiden, Manu Da Silva, sadly lost his 18 month battle with cancer and passed away on Tuesday 31st May.
Manu – known to many fans as the manager of Eddies bar in Santa Barbara de Nexe in Portugal has been a friend to the band since 1981. He first met Steve Harris while working as a roadie for the french band, Trust, when Iron Maiden were touring with them.
He eventually joined Iron Maiden on the road throughout the 80’s as one of the crew and worked
with them until the end of 1988.
In 1989 Manu then retired to Portugal where he then took on running Eddie Bar at Steve’s request which opened the same year. He was also a prominent member of the Moto Club in Faro, which organises one of the most important motorbike meetings in Europe.
Our collective thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by the band and fans around the world.
