“Flight 666” won Best Music DVD at Canada’s prestigious Juno Awards last week beating off competition from bands such as Arcade Fire and Rush.
Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn from Banger Films in Canada, who made the documentary based around Maiden’s groundbreaking “Somewhere Back In Time World Tour”, were at the ceremony to accept the Award. Commenting on their seven week assignment with Maiden in early 2008 — including on board the band’s specially chartered Boeing 757 (Ed Force One) piloted by lead singer Bruce Dickinson who flew band, crew and 12 tons of equipment on the 50,000 mile first leg of the tour – Sam spoke affectionately of the experience “..There were about 100 soccer hooligans on board asking why there were colonials making a movie about Iron Maiden… ” after admitting.. “It was the hardest thing we’ve ever done. But those guys are much less chaotic than you think…they are professionals”
